Giroux Pappas Names New Haven Elementary Teacher An Exceptional Educator for September
Southfield, MI, September, 2023 – Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys, a personal injury law firm serving clients in Michigan is pleased to announce Mrs. Heather Rogers of Endeavor Elementary School, of New Haven as the Exceptional Educator for September. Ms. Rogers, a 3rd grade teacher, was nominated by an appreciative family for her amazing efforts, and her school will receive a donation of $1000 from the law firm.
“I believe it’s important to recognize teachers in our community, like Mrs. Rogers, and their incredible commitment to our children. Next to parents they often have the most significant impact on our children,” said Bob Giroux, Attorney and Founding Partner. The family that nominated Ms. Rogers told of her quick thinking and steadiness during a scary event last year. “While guiding the 2nd – 3rd graders back to class, an irate parent entered the school, triggering the alarms to sound. Mrs. Rogers and her class were in the hall coming from the gym back to their classroom when she instantly, calmly shuttled the students into a safe place. My son came home telling me about the intruder and explaining to me how “you” are my mom at home, and you make sure I am safe. Well, Mrs. Rogers is “mom” at school, and she takes care of me and makes sure I am safe when I am there.” The parent continued, “As a parent, this is your greatest fear, and I will forever be grateful to her for making my son feel this way, BUT as a 1st Responder of 27 years, it is a whole other level of gratefulness knowing that she was able to think quick on her feet, command control of the students keeping their anxiety at bay, to keep them quiet while guiding them to a safe place.”
Giroux Pappas created the Exceptional Educator Program and partners with WXYZ to gather nominations for educators in the area who go above and beyond for their students. Giroux Pappas launched the program in January 2022 to give back to the community it serves and has recognized and donated to a teacher each month.
