In a nomination from a colleague, Jason was praised for his relentless effort to support students both academically and socially, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic. Academy of Warren, a Title One school located on Eight Mile Road, saw its students deeply affected by COVID-19, not just academically, but emotionally as well. Jason has been instrumental in addressing these challenges with a creative and compassionate approach.

One of his standout initiatives is the SWISH Program (Students.Who.Inspire.Shoot.Hoops), where Jason donates his conference hour to connect with struggling students through sports and mentorship. Whether it’s basketball, reading, or just spending time in the gym, Jason provides a space for middle schoolers to reset and feel supported. He’s also a key member of the Parent Connect committee, working tirelessly to engage parents in their children’s education.

Beyond that, Jason organized a Reading Fair and a Health Fair, bringing together students, parents, and community experts to foster a love for learning and healthy living. His commitment to fun and engagement shines through in events like the Color Run and Field Day Carnival, creating lasting memories and a sense of school pride for students. His weekly health tips for staff further underscore his dedication to the well-being of everyone at the Academy of Warren.
