Bloomfield Hills Teacher Named September 2025 Exceptional Educator

South Hills Middle School Science Teacher John Biegun Named September Exceptional Educator by Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys is proud to announce John Biegun, a dedicated science teacher at South Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, as the Exceptional Educator for September. Mr. Biegun was recognized for his passion for teaching, creativity in the classroom, and his commitment to inspiring curiosity and critical thinking among his students.

Since launching the Exceptional Educator Program in partnership with WXYZ Channel 7, Giroux Pappas has honored Michigan teachers who go above and beyond for their students. Each month, one educator is selected to receive a $1,000 award and special recognition for their outstanding contributions to education.

“Educators like John represent the best of our communities,” said Bob Giroux, Managing Partner of Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys. “They dedicate their lives to shaping young minds, often going the extra mile to make learning meaningful and memorable. We’re honored to celebrate teachers who make such a lasting impact.”

Mr. Biegun was nominated by another teacher at the school who had this to say about him:

“On my “tough” teaching days, he encourages me. On my “amazing” teaching days, he celebrates with me. On the days in-between, we share laughs over our high school aged sons, wonders of the universe and joys of teaching the new generation of engineers, artists, teachers, mathematicians and doctors.

In the classroom, John Biegun embodies kindness, support and patience for his students. His “presence” allows every child (and myself as a co-worker) to feel seen, valued and understood.
He creates a learning environment that motivates and captivates students to further explore science (and social studies) . He instills the love of learning in his students. I see them rush down the hallway…eager to see what the day will bring in “Mr. B’s” class.

Additionally, John is the ultimate team player. He supports every member of the 7th grade team and encourages each of us to strive for excellence.I am BEYOND fortunate to work side by side with John. He brings dedication, patience, excellence and collaboration to the South Hills Middle School 7th grade team.”

Launched by Giroux Pappas in 2021, the Exceptional Educators Program honors local teachers who make a profound difference in the lives of their students. Each month during the school year, one teacher is selected based on community nominations and awarded $1,000 in recognition of their dedication to education.
