Multi-Car Accident on I-75: Investigators Work to Determine Fault

A devastating five-car accident on Interstate 75 in Independence Township claimed the life of a 67-year-old man and left another individual injured on Tuesday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.
Details of the Car Accident
The crash occurred at 12:05 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Sashabaw Road. Traffic was at a standstill due to ongoing road work, with crews blocking the left two lanes. A 65-year-old Flint man driving a charter bus in the right lane was unable to stop in time, colliding into a red Chevrolet Silverado, setting off a chain reaction crash.
The impact forced the Silverado into a Mercedes Benz GL450, which then struck a Ford F750 utility truck, pushing it into a silver Chevrolet Silverado. The bus continued forward and struck the side of a semi-truck parked on the right shoulder.
The driver of the red Chevrolet Silverado, a 67-year-old man from Goodrich, tragically lost his life. The driver of the Mercedes Benz sustained a lower-body injury and was transported to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Michigan State Police utilized drones to map the large accident scene during their investigation, which temporarily shut down the freeway. Authorities are continuing their investigation and will forward their findings to the prosecutor’s office for potential charges.
