CDC Reports an Increase in the Number of Vaping-Related Deaths and Illnesses
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as of January 14, 2020, a total of 2,668 hospitalized e-cigarette, or vaping, product use-associated lung injury (EVALI) cases or deaths have been reported to CDC from 50 states, the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories (Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands). Sixty deaths have been confirmed in 27 states and the District of Columbia. Michigan is amongst the 27 states where vaping-related deaths have been confirmed. The age of deceased patients ranges from 15 through 75 years.
