Former Highland Park Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault: What Victims Should Know
A recent report from WXYZ has brought to light troubling sex assault allegations against a former Highland Park teacher and coach Vincent Weaver, 29. He is accused of sexual misconduct with a 12 year old student at George Washington Carver Academy in Wayne County. According to the report, the former educator was suspended earlier this month for another inappropriate incident but allegedly returned to a school function disguised with sunglasses and a mask. Law enforcement officials say the individual has been fired and is now facing criminal charges.
“I can’t commend this victim enough for having the courage to come forward…based on my experience there is usually more than one victim…and if there are other victims we encourage them to come forward”, said Highland Park Interim Police Chief James McMahon at a press conference on Monday.
