One Year After The World Shut Down. We Are Hopeful.
Looking Forward to the Year Ahead – With Hope.
At this time of year we usually post something about our successes and highlights from the previous year but given the upheaval we have witnessed over the last 12 months we are going to do this a bit differently. We are going to look forward with hope for a better year for our clients, legal colleagues, family and friends.
First, let me just say that I feel saddened for everyone affected by Covid-19. Like you, we have colleagues, clients, family and friends that have lost jobs, seen business decline, experienced sickness and the loss of loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
A Commitment to Giving Back
Probably the most important component of who we are as a firm is our passion and commitment to protecting those that need protecting. As we look to 2021 and what we hope to accomplish this year we want to give back to our community that has been hit so hard. There are 3 very important groups that we wish to support:
Victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. We have handled a number of cases in the past couple years and continue to be amazed that people in positions of power do not protect those less powerful; turn a blind eye; or put known predators back into positions where they can take advantage of those most vulnerable. We are committed to fighting the fight for those less powerful and will give to organizations that support them. In December both Vista Maria and Haven of Oakland County were recipients of a donation in honor of you, our clients and friends.
Relieving Hunger in School Aged Children. We are especially concerned for the children who have suffered this last year without school breakfast and lunch programs. We will participate with Forgotten Harvest’s Youth Food Programs which were created along with the Michigan Department of Education as a continuous effort to address food insecurity in children.
Children Suffering Severe illness in the Great Lakes Region. We hope that North Star Reach: A Serious Fun Camp for children with life threatening illnesses is able to be open this summer. They continue to organize virtual programming for children and their families
Thank you all for the faith and trust you place in our firm. We wish everyone a better 2021.
