2017: A year with a $12 Million settlement at the top of the list!
We started this firm with a plan to practice law with honesty, integrity, and always doing the right thing for the client. We call it PURE LAW. As we look back on 2017 there are great examples of living these principals.
We had four trials and 60 cases settle in 2017 including our largest case which helped our clients receive a $12 million verdict.
Having the Guts to Go to Trial
We are proud to be litigators. Four of our cases went to a jury trial. Three successful -one loss. Yes sometimes we lose but we fight and put our all into every trial. Case details:
- Our client was injured in an auto accident and offered a settlement of $35,000 by Farmers Insurance. This was unacceptable. We went to trial for 5 days in Wayne County Circuit Court. Jury awarded our client $700,000.
- Another auto accident. Our client was offered $125,000 by her insurance company. The case was tried in Oakland County Circuit Court. Jury awarded her $700,000.
- Civil Rights Case unfortunately lost. This was a difficult case tried in Federal Court.
- A client who was injured in a dog bite was awarded $100,000 by a jury in Oakland County Circuit Court.
Growth Comes In Many Ways
Creating a great culture for our attorneys and staff was a goal when starting this firm and this reputation fueled expansion. We took additional space and soon it was filled. Evan Pappas and Brandon Abro joined the Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys team. We also welcomed staff members Lyndsey Spencer and Erin Brown.
Creating a Culture We Enjoy
Working hard is a given at Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys but we try to balance that with outings where we get to know one another better. It is a goal to create a working environment everyone wants to be part of. We walked at the Detroit Zoo for the Children’s Miracle Network. We got together for an evening and a competitive game of Whirlyball were we saw a new side to some staff! And the highlight of the year was treating our firm to a trip to Las Vegas for the weekend. We had a team dinner, Cirque du Soleil show, and a little bit of gambling – a terrific celebration of a successful year.
We are looking forward to continuing to grow as a law firm, and are excited to make 2018 a year of helping as many people as we can. We are off to a great start in January with 6 cases settled already. Looking forward to a wonderful 2018.
