Terrifying Detroit Motorcycle Accident: Rider Hits 150 MPH!
A serious motorcycle accident on I-75 in Detroit has left a young man from Sterling Heights hospitalized. Michigan State Police (MSP) say the crash occurred at dangerous speeds late Wednesday night, according to a report from WWJ Radio.
The Motorcycle Accident Details
The accident took place around 11:20 p.m. on northbound I-75 near Davison. MSP troopers arrived to find the motorcycle on its side and the rider unresponsive in the center lane. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old from Sterling Heights, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not yet been released.
Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, a Honda CRV, was not injured.
Speeding Leads to Tragedy
An initial investigation by MSP revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling at an alarming speed of over 150 miles per hour when he rear-ended the Honda CRV. MSP officers stress that speeding remains a leading cause of preventable traffic accidents.
“We continue to see excessive speed leading to preventable traffic crashes,” said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw. “There is no reason to drive faster than the speed limit. There is absolutely no reason to drive over 150 miles per hour. This is another reminder to drive responsibly.”
Freeway Reopened After Investigation
The crash forced authorities to close I-75 near Davison for a period to allow for a full investigation. It has since been reopened.
