Construction Site Accident in Potterville Kills Worker
A tragic construction site accident in the Lansing area has claimed the life of a 27-year-old worker and left another seriously injured. The accident occurred on June 16, 2025, during ongoing construction of a gymnasium at Potterville High School.
According to a newly released MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration) report, two workers were using an aerial lift to set steel roof trusses when several unsecured trusses fell, striking both men and trapping them inside the lift. The workers were employed by Eagle Enterprises, a subcontractor under Clark Construction, the project’s general contractor. Sadly, one of the workers succumbed to his injuries the next day—marking Michigan’s 12th workplace fatality of 2025.
This fatal Lansing area construction site accident is now under investigation by state and local authorities. Clark Construction has stated it is fully cooperating.
Why Construction Site Accidents Are So Legally Complex
In construction site injury or fatality cases, determining fault is rarely straightforward. Multiple parties often contribute to unsafe conditions, including:
- General contractors responsible for site-wide safety
- Subcontractors hired for specific tasks like truss installation
- Equipment manufacturers if mechanical failure played a role
- Engineers or architects involved in structural design
- Site safety supervisors tasked with OSHA compliance
Liability depends on who failed to meet safety standards, whether proper bracing and rigging procedures were followed, and whether the equipment and materials were being used correctly. Sorting through these issues requires technical knowledge and legal skill.
Giroux Pappas Recently Won a $4.7M Construction Site Verdict
Our firm recently secured a $4.7 million jury verdict for a client injured on a complex job site involving multiple contractors and an equipment supplier. That case required testimony from structural engineers, accident reconstructionists, and OSHA experts. We successfully proved that negligence existed at several levels—and held all responsible parties accountable.
These types of victories demonstrate how experienced Lansing area construction site accident attorneys can make the difference between a denied claim and full, fair compensation.
