Why Clients Choose Us

Bob Giroux

Managing Partner and Trial Attorney, admitted in Michigan since 1993

We built this firm on a simple idea: fewer cases, deeper involvement and direct access to the attorneys handling your case. When the stakes are highest, preparation makes the difference.

Personal Injury Cases We Handle in Farmington Hills

We represent injured people and families throughout Farmington Hills and the surrounding Oakland County communities, including Novi, Southfield, West Bloomfield and Farmington. Because we take fewer cases than the high-volume firms whose billboards line Grand River Avenue, each client gets the attention their case deserves.

The serious injuries we see here tend to cluster in a few areas: auto accident claims along the I-696 and M-5 corridors, medical malpractice at area hospitals like Corewell Health Farmington Hills, and the birth injury and wrongful death cases that ask the most of a family. Serious injury claims from this area are generally filed in the Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac, and we prepare every case as if it will be tried there. If you are not certain your situation fits, a short conversation is usually the fastest way to find out, and you can always start by reading about our broader Michigan personal injury work.

Client Stories

Personal Injury Cases,
Told by Our Clients

“His (Bob Giroux’s) attention to detail was what really drew me to him. And whether it was Bob doing it or someone from his team, they were in constant contact with me. So, I always knew what was happening.”
Sharon, Family Member for Deceased Mother

Do You Have a Case?

Most personal injury claims start here. If another driver, a property owner, a company or a medical provider failed to act with reasonable care and you were hurt because of it, you may have a claim. In many cases, especially auto accidents, the claim is against an insurance company and not a friend or family member.

The cases that justify legal action usually involve real, documented harm: significant medical treatment, time away from work, a permanent condition or the loss of a loved one. If you are not certain your injury qualifies, that is a normal question to bring to a consultation.

Michigan generally gives you three years from the date of a personal injury to file a lawsuit under MCL 600.5805 but this depends on a number of factors. Auto cases also carry separate no-fault deadlines under MCL 500.3145. For residents near Farmington Hills area, serious injury cases are generally filed in the Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac. Some situations have shorter or different limits, so it is worth confirming your deadline early rather than late.

You do not need a complete file to talk to us. A police report, medical records, photos or the names of witnesses all help, but gathering and preserving evidence is part of our job. The sooner we begin, the more of it we can protect.

Many of the people we represent never planned to hire a lawyer. You do not have to decide today. You can start with a conversation, learn where you stand and take the next step only if it makes sense for you.

What Happens Next

How a Farmington Hills personal injury lawyer at Giroux Pappas works with you

Step 01
Confidential Consultation
It begins with a private conversation at no cost and no obligation. Once we take your case, you deal directly with your attorney, never an intake desk.
Step 02
Case Evaluation and Investigation
We collect information and gather elements that prove the case: medical files, police reports, black box data, photographs of the scene and accounts from the people who were there, are all important.
Step 03
Strategic Preparation
We file the case and do the demanding work behind the scenes to ensure a strong result. From depositions to the medical and technical expert testimonies to potential damages, we prepare a case as if we will need to tell a jury the story.
Step 04
Negotiation or Trial
We work toward the best outcome available. When the other side resolves it fairly, we negotiate, and when they will not, we are ready for the Oakland County courtroom.

A Wrongful Death: When Care Breaks Down. A Preventable Hospital Death

A client’s husband was taken to the hospital because of his chest pain. Our client informed hospital staff that he required close supervision due to his dementia and blindness. Nevertheless, he was left unattended and was able to leave the hospital without staff being aware. Tragically, he was found later by police officers after he died from hypothermia.

Farmington Hills Personal Injury Attorneys Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our headquarters is in Farmington Hills, and we represent clients across Oakland County, including Novi, Southfield, West Bloomfield and Farmington, along with the rest of Michigan. You can meet an attorney at our local office, they can come to you or you can start with a phone consultation.

We handle serious Michigan personal injury matters, including auto accident claims, medical malpractice, birth injury and wrongful death.

We work on a contingency basis. That means we front the costs of your case and only collect a fee if we recover compensation for you. If we do not recover, you owe us nothing.

In most negligence cases in Michigan, you have three years to file a personal injury claim. However, medical malpractice claims carry a two-year deadline from the date of negligence. Because statutes can vary by case type it is best to discuss this with an attorney.

Often, no. In auto and many other claims, the case is really against an insurance company and not the individual. We can explain exactly who a claim would involve before you decide anything.

Medical malpractice happens when a healthcare provider’s care falls below the accepted standard and causes harm, such as a misdiagnosis, a surgical error or a preventable complication. These cases are complex, and we investigate them carefully before moving forward.

As soon as you reasonably can. Early involvement lets us preserve evidence, document your injuries and deal with insurers while you focus on recovering.
