Giroux Pappas Law founder recognized among Michigan attorneys for his work in medical malpractice and his commitment to trial-ready preparation
Giroux Pappas Law is proud to announce that founder and managing partner Robert Giroux has been named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s 2026 Legal 250. The Michigan Legal 250 recognizes the most influential attorneys across the state’s legal landscape. Each year, Michigan Lawyers Weekly spotlights leaders shaping Michigan’s legal profession across a number of practice areas.
Giroux is one of just seven attorneys recognized in the Medical Malpractice category of the 2026 Michigan Legal 250.
For Giroux, the recognition reflects an approach to practicing law that he has developed over more than three decades: prepare every case as though it will go to trial, put the client’s needs first and conduct every matter with integrity and professionalism.

“I’ve spent the last 33 years as a litigator and I’ve learned that the secret to a successful outcome for our clients is about preparing every case as if it is going to trial.” Giroux said. “I believe this level of rigor doesn’t just build stronger cases: it builds real respect with judges and opposing counsel.”
For most of his career, Giroux has represented individuals and families whose lives have been changed forever by catastrophic injuries, medical negligence or healthcare providers failing to deliver the appropriate standard of care.
“Those in the legal community know me as someone who can handle complex cases such as medical malpractice, birth injury, wrongful death and other personal injury matters,” he said
Choosing to Represent Plaintiffs
Early in his career, Giroux spent several years working on the defense side. He soon realized, however, that his heart was with plaintiffs and those who needed help during difficult and challenging times.
“I focus on several personal injury areas, including medical malpractice, because these types of cases combine complex problem-solving with the chance to help people during their most devastating moments,” Giroux said. “When the standard of care isn’t met, the consequences ripple through entire families, and gaining justice for these individuals is a priority for me.”
He finds deep satisfaction in holding hospitals and healthcare providers accountable, improving patient safety and advocating for people who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
The Cases That Stay With Him
For Giroux, the most memorable cases are not necessarily defined by the size of a verdict or settlement. “It isn’t the size of a verdict or settlement that stays with me; it’s the people,” he said. “The most memorable cases involve children with life-altering birth injuries or families seeking justice after the loss of a loved one.”
One client story involved a family whose father was killed after he and his wife were struck by a patrol car traveling at a high rate of speed without its lights and sirens activated. The case became increasingly complex when the municipality denied fault, evidence was concealed and the family received no reasonable settlement offers.
“The clients wanted justice, not a settlement, so we went to trial,” Giroux said. “The satisfaction they felt—and that we all felt—when the jury understood who was truly at fault made this case so memorable for me.”
Cases of this complexity can require years of investigation and an unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth.
Named to Michigan’s Legal 250
“Helping our personal injury and medical malpractice clients find answers, accountability and the financial resources they need to move forward is what makes this work meaningful,” he said. That long-term commitment also creates lasting relationships between Giroux and the people and families he represents.
Leadership Through Experience and Mentorship
Over more than three decades, Giroux has litigated cases for both plaintiffs and defendants and has handled more than 100 trials. During that time, he has earned the respect and trust of judges and colleagues, many of whom refer complex cases to him and Giroux Pappas Law. “They know we have the resources and expertise these cases deserve,” Giroux said.
His leadership also extends to mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. While much of his contribution to the legal community has occurred outside formal organizational roles, Giroux has helped develop attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants throughout his career. That mentorship includes teaching the mechanics of trial practice—how to build a case, conduct depositions, select juries and present persuasive arguments—as well as the responsibility that comes with representing clients during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
“I believe our profession is strongest when lawyers are known for their integrity, preparation and professionalism, not just their monetary results,” Giroux said.
Throughout his career, he has worked to foster respectful relationships with attorneys, judges, mediators and court staff. He believes putting clients’ needs first and remaining civil and professional are essential both to effective advocacy and maintaining the public’s trust in the legal system.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been helping elevate the next generation of legal professionals,” Giroux said. “Seeing those I have mentored build successful careers of their own is deeply gratifying.”
