Construction sites can involve multiple contractors, subcontractors, property owners, equipment manufacturers and other companies working alongside one another. When a serious accident occurs, determining what happened — and who may be legally responsible — can require a detailed investigation.

Ahmed’s case is an example of that complexity. He was seriously injured when a conveyor bridge collapsed at a power plant, trapping him beneath the structure for approximately 90 minutes. Ahmed’s story in his own words

He was crushed by a conveyor for over an excruciating 90 minutes. Following the accident Ahmed sought legal help to understand his options. He was ultimately referred to attorney Bob Giroux by a friend who had previously worked with the firm on another construction accident.

“We’re at a power plant, and we were taking down this conveyor bridge, and I guess the bridge collapsed, hit me in the head, knocked me out, and they pronounced me dead for about 15 minutes. It took about 90 minutes. Over 50 guys, construction guys, demolition guys, safety guys, fire crew guys, police guys, you name it. It was the worst 90 minutes of my life. I called my brother, I told him goodbye. They handed me the phone. I told him, take care of my wife, take care of my kid, and I want to basically die.

Finally, they floated the steel off me, and the first thing they did is remove my spleen. I broke 10 ribs on my left, out of 12. I broke my back and forth spots. I fractured my pelvis, and I was in a body cast for three months. And I was depressed, you know?

After about a couple months, I went to some TV lawyers I saw on TV. Big shot lawyers. People know them. And one with the one guide, he said, You have no case. Went to the second guy, he told me you have no case. Nobody wanted to work hard, you know?

So finally, I went and had breakfast with one of my friends, and he told me you got to go to this guy named Bob Giroux. I said, Okay.

Bob is the real deal. That’s it. bottom line. He works. He’ll travel. He doesn’t stop. He’s just an aggressive guy. Whatever it takes to get the job done, he’s a hard worker. I never met a worker like that.

I mean, he would call me on Saturdays. I remember one time, he called me on a Sunday, asking me questions. It was beautiful outside. Like, you know, you should be spending it with your family, not to call me, but that’s how he is. He’s that good.

I’ve seen Bob in a room with five, six lawyers, and he really made them look all bad. He did. That’s how good he is. He’s a top notch lawyer.

So we went to Oklahoma for a deposition, and I just watched Bob work, man, and it’s, like, they didn’t like Bob at all, you know? ‘Cause he’s just so aggressive and he’s so good. The guy looked at me, told me, “Well, we know that you’re the smartest guy in here, so, you know, don’t be a don’t be a-hole”. You, uh, you better be nervous when you’re in that room with him.

They were just wonderful; his staff is wonderful. Everybody was wonderful to me here. I mean, they were such a big help on the case. It wasn’t just Bob. You know, I dealt with them a lot, too, and called them and bugged them a lot, and, you know, and they would have answers for me. It’s not easy going through a case. It takes a lot of preparation. People tell you, you ain’t got nothing, and next, you know, you meet people like this. It’s unbelievable.
Without Bob, I could be nothing to this day. He really saved my life.”
